2008 Premiership Season Ticket Sales and Waiting List Updates

A Premiership season ticket sales survey was recently conducted by Channel 4 News Online from the UK:

The media department of every football club in the Premiership and Championship was contacted and asked about their season ticket sales thus far and the availability of season tickets for 2008-2009. The results are season ticket sales as of the week July 21, 2008. The new Championship season kicks off on August 9, 2008, with the Premiership starting on August 16, 2008. It looks like every football club in the Premiership will meet or excede last years season ticket sales figures.

Premiership season tickets updates for 2010 from boxofficefootball.com:

"Manchester United have confirmed they will increase season ticket prices by £1 a game next season and many other clubs will be increasing also.
While many clubs have reduced prices to attract more cash-strapped fans at a time of a global economic crisis, United once again feel confident about bucking the trend because they are still turning away an average of almost 5,500 fans per game.( see prices below)

Fans’ groups are not too impressed with the rises, which take the cost of a ticket to a top-price £49. The cheapest ticket at Old Trafford will be £27.

Sportsmail understands that the European and domestic champions will be the only Premier League club to increase their season ticket prices next season - although Aston Villa have slightly raised the price of the cheapest seat at Villa Park.

However, United feel the continued clamour to watch Sir Alex Ferguson’s men - average Premier League attendances this season are 75,299 - is justified.

Liverpool quoted on there site:
Liverpool FC are to freeze prices on all tickets at Anfield for the 2009-10 season.

In fact, for any supporter renewing a season ticket, the price will actually drop compared to the cost for the current campaign as it will reflect a reduction of 2.5% in VAT which will be applied across the whole of next season, despite the government stating the VAT rate will be increased again to 17.5% on January 1st 2010.

At that point, general ticket sale prices will reflect any change made by the government to the VAT rate. Further details, including a breakdown of all ticket prices for the 2009-2010 season and the timescales involved for season ticket renewals will be announced in due course. We are sure things may change but expect for sure to pay more next season."
